Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Officejet Pro 6835. When I try to scan it shows a message: the scanner is occupied

@Henrique21, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer?
  • Have you tried using the Apple Image Capture to scan?

Meanwhile, try the steps below-

 

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update software on Mac 

 

Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac) for alternate scanning methods if that helps.

I did try all that but at the end it says "scanner is occupied"

The printer is connected thru wifi.

When I try to update the firmware it says that the driver cannot be found

I'd recommend you uninstall the existing HP printer software on your computer. Refer to the document HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac) for help.

 

Now, reinstall the printer drivers and try scanning.
