Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw

We have HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw printer and would like to use scan to email function. All the settings look correct:

  • SMTP Server is correct,
  • SMTP Port is 25 (our SMTP Server doesn't require SSL),
  • Server Authentication is set to Server does not require authentication, 
  • Checkbox Always Use Secure Connection is unchecked. 

But when trying to scan, it always shows following text: "Secure connection (SSL or TLS) failed. Check your settings and try again."

It looks like the printer always require secure connection to SMTP server.

Our question is it possible to use scan to email in this printer without requirement to establish secure connection with SMTP server?

does it go through if you turn on SSL? Did you restart the printer after turning off the SSL settings? I have experienced cases where these types of settings remain active until a reboot.
