Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 8740 directly hooked to my Windows 10 device with a USB cable.

The printer installs correct and prints great. But I am unable to scan to my device. The printer sees my device, but the software will not see my printer.

I have read several post that say I need to factory rest my printer. Can you please assist?

To assist you better, which app are you using to scan?

Have you tried the HP Smart app?

 

Refer to - How to scan with an HP printer

 

If you are trying to scan from the printer screen to the computer, you need the full-feature printer driver to be installed on the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the utility, go to scan > manage scan to computer > enable

I have that already installed. I am getting the message that Scan to PC has been disabled. Contact your administrator.

I am the admin and have not disabled it.

Did you open the full-feature printer driver and enable the option?

If yes, kindly send a picture of the same in your next post for better understanding.

I could not locate anywhere with in the app to enable this feature.

Can you please send a doc (link to doc) to locate this feature?

As I have mentioned in my initial post, this has to be done using the full-feature printer driver. The HP Smart app does not have this option.

Kindly follow the steps mentioned in my first post.

 

Unfortunately, there is no document available.
