Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I have been using scan to printer for a couple of years.  I've always had some minor problems with it in the pass but found work arounds.  But today it stopped working and none of my workaround worked, so i reloaded the software.  When I got to the point of activating the scan to computer, it asked for the printer's pin.  I entered the pin and got an error message the scan to computer had been disabled and to contact the person that setup the computer.  ow do I get pass this as I use the scan to computer almost daily.

Hi @oldc_trapper,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error you’re seeing when activating Scan to Computer usually means the feature is disabled at the system level or tied to an account restriction. Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Check HP Printer PIN

  • The PIN is usually printed on the printer’s info sheet or shown on the control panel under Network Settings.
  • Make sure you entered the correct PIN (case-sensitive).

Step 2: Enable Scan to Computer in HP Software

  1. Open the HP Printer Assistant (installed with your printer software).
  2. Click Scan > Manage Scan to Computer.
  3. Check Enable Scan to Computer and click Apply.

Step 3: Run HP App

Step 4: Check Account Permissions

  • If the message says “Contact the person who set up the computer,” it may be a Windows account permission issue.
  • Log in as an Administrator and retry enabling Scan to Computer.

Step 5: Reinstall Full HP Software

  • Uninstall the printer software completely.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
