HP OfficeJet  Pro 8600.  I've been scanning to computer with no problem.   All of a sudden, out of the blue, it says "No Computer Found".  I tried turning the printer off and back on.  But the problem still persists.  What to do?

Hi @ca4um,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is displaying a "No Computer Found" error, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure your computer and printer are connected to the same network. If you're using a wireless connection, verify that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • For USB connections, make sure the cable is properly connected and undamaged.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both the printer and the computer. Wait for a few seconds, then turn them back on. This can often resolve connectivity issues.

Update Printer Software:

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the printer driver and software installed on your computer. You can check for updates on the Official HP® Support and download any necessary updates.

Reconfigure Scan Settings:

  • On your computer, open the HP software and navigate to the scan settings. Reconfigure the scan to computer settings to ensure everything is set up correctly.

Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your firewall and antivirus settings. Sometimes, security software can block the communication between the printer and the computer. You may need to add exceptions for your HP printer software.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can provide fixes for connectivity and compatibility issues with hardware devices.

Reconnect the Printer:

Check Network Configuration:

  • If you are on a network with multiple access points or have a complex network setup, ensure the printer and computer can communicate without interference.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
