Dear community members,
I am trying to install the 'scan to e-mail' and 'scan to network folder' on my HP Laserjet 200 colorMFP M276nw.
However, both are not working.
I have installed both the HP utility and HP easy scan apps and followed all the installation steps that were provided. I also tried a lot of alternative methodes but nothing seems to work. So what did I try:
Scan to email
I created an e-mail from profile and an e-mail to profile.
- I tried a Google account, a Microsoft365 account and a private hosting client.
- I tried all different SMTP gateways and all different security settings
The error that I keep seeing is the following:
Cannot convert SMTP server. check these settings with your system administrator or internet provider
Whatever I try, this error message keeps showing itself and I cannot find what I am doing wrong.
Scan to network folder
- I shared my folders, the way it is described in the HP utility app
- I tried folders in different locations (Icloud, Onedrive, local MAC)
- different slashes in network path (mine are automatically forward slashes, need to change them manually to backward slashes in order to get accepted by the field validation check)
- I tried changing my IP to 8.8.8.8. (and other IP address options, the only thing that happened was that I lost connection and needed to reconnect with my Laserjet by making the Laserjet auto search its IP)
- also I tried rebooting, reinstalling, and of course checking the wireless connection
Again, nothing seems to work and the error that I am getting is:
Cannot find the remote server. Check the server name or use an IP address to connect. Make sure the remote computer is turned on.
My goal is to make at least one of the two options work. If anyone can help me further that would be great!
Thanks in advance.
ps. my OS = MacOS Big Sur
pss. my Laserjet cannot connect to the Webservices as well (it gives the message that the device cannot connect to the service, while wireless connection is excellent)

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's restore the network settings on the Printer: Go to the Setup Menu>Network Setup>Restore Defaults
Once done, then try setting up scan to email and network by connecting the Printer to the Wi-Fi first.
Let me know if this helps.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
