HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302fdw
Microsoft Windows 11

Having problem setting up the Scan to Email feature. I have set the mail server (SMTP.google.com), however I keep getting "invalid credentials" when testing. I have followed various suggestions posted here. The option to enabled less secure app is no longer available in googe mail. Anything else I can try?

Thanks

@EdS1945, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're encountering issues with the "Scan to Email" feature on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302fdw while trying to configure it to work with Gmail. The message "invalid credentials" typically indicates either incorrect login details or that Google is blocking the connection due to security reasons.

Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

Use App Passwords

If you have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your Google account (which is highly recommended), you’ll need to generate an App Password for your printer.

Steps:

Go to your Google account settings: https://myaccount.google.com.

Under Security, click on App passwords.

You may need to re-enter your password and confirm the 2FA.

Select Mail as the app and Other (Custom name) for the device.

Enter a name like “HP Printer” and click Generate.

Google will give you a 16-character password. Copy this password.

On your printer's email setup page, use the App Password you generated instead of your usual Google account password.

Note: App passwords are one-time use for specific apps or devices, so make sure to use the one generated specifically for your printer.

Also, i suggest you refer to this guide: HP LaserJet Pro MFP - Set up Scan to Email | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
