HP Photo Envy 7155
Microsoft Windows XP

I was able to set up an email address, get the code, and confirm it and select "auto-login" through the printer. Howeve,r whenever I go to scan to email, it all looks good... it starts scanning and then says "canceling" and asks me to verify the address again, and I get stuck in that same loop..

1.  Verify address

2.  "preparing to scan" message

3.  "scanning" message

4. "canceling" message

Rinse and repeat...

I have tried powering off the printer and restarting it. No change.

Basic Instructions and FAQ:

It almost sounds like the SSL security is not set up properly for your email service.  ??

Information that I have on the subject likely has no direct relevance to XP -- I am posting the information below in hopes that you can extrapolate something helpful to your situation.

Remember:  Scan to Email cannot handle "Two -step-verification" (optional setup in your email service).  It MIGHT be possible to set up an "apps" password (also done in your email service / account) to bypass / augment the two-step-verification.

Reminder:  Scan to Email wants / needs an email program installed on the computer.  Web-based email does not count as "installed" email program.  Outlook, the version installed on the computer is an "installed" program, as is "Thunderbird" client.

In the case of Outlook, it might be necessary that you have the Outlook program running when you invoke Scan to Email.  What?  Start Outlook > minimize the window and leave the program running > run your Scan to Email setup.

If the printer is on the network, use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to configure / test / edit-profile your Scan to Email.

Example:

EWS_8740_Scan-to-Email_Setup_2EWS_8740_Scan-to-Email_Setup_2
