I went to scan a document to email like I have done in the past but the option is gone?

I went to the printers internal website and the option isn't there under scan either. I went to the email server section and double checked that, and when I hit the test button I get a email from the printer and the test shows as successful. I went to security->access control and the scan to email option both guest and printer user are selected and to use default.

I have reset the printer multiple times.

The option was working the last time I used it, I notice a firmware update was just done. Did HP break something?

I use **bleep** and I have an app generated password for it, and it's worked fine in the past 6 months so not sure why after the firmware update it has quit working?

If the "Scan to Email" option has disappeared from your HP printer and you've already verified the email server setup and access controls, here are a few additional steps you can take:

(Recommended Steps)
1. Power Reset (won’t fix all units, but required first step)

Some firmware features re‑initialize on a deep reset.

  1. Turn printer ON
  2. Unplug the power from the back
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. Plug directly into a wall outlet
  5. Wait for the printer to fully restart

 

2. Disable and Re‑Enable Web Services

  1. Printer EWS → Web Services
  2. Turn OFF
  3. Wait 30 sec
  4. Turn ON again

This refreshes cloud‑based feature menus.

3. Check for a New Firmware Fix (HP sometimes pushes a hotfix)

HP has acknowledged in other cases that firmware bugs affecting email and scan workflows may need a hotfix.

Check: EWS → Printer Updates → Check for Update

If a new patch exists, install it.
