Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP577 Own but Serial won't look up

Trying to set up scan to computer from HP577 rather than scanning to a flash drive and moving to computer as have done for years

I am in the web EWS / Network Folder setup. I have file sharing on for F:/hpscans - on my F drive (I have many)
the format example is \\mypc\sharedfolder mypc = DaveH - is Computer Name (it isn't for security but example)
I try
\\DaveH\F:\hpscans
\\DaveH\F:hpscans
DaveH\F:hpscans
file://DaveH/hpscans
file://DaveH/F:/hpscams

And other combinations. Part of issue is confused with / or \ if network path follows file or URL rules

Am stumped

Correct syntax is

 

\\computername\sharename

 

Please note that in many home applications the printer may not be able to find the computer using the name and you might have to use the IP address of the computer you are scanning to as the computer name

for example

 

\\192.168.1.10\sharename
