Hi guys,
I just bought a new HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 and works pretty smooth out of the box with linux (Debian). However, I have one critical issue which I think doesn't depend on the operating system. When use the Scan to Email App it works like a charm except that the bottom of all of my pages are not scanned. It looks like that they skipped the last 1cm or so. I'm using the ADF for this. Any help on this would be great thanks

Rats, that’s right. Apologies.
This Printer does not support smtp / digital send. 🐀
Not sure - the only way to set up scan-to-email on a printer that does not support digital sending is to use the Apps function on the printer's display panel. You have done this.
Well, you could go the "long way around".
Use Webscan to scan in the document and save it.
Then open email and attach to document to send it along.
I realize that defeats the purpose but it might at least work.
Webscan – located in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) – No additional software
If the printer is on the network,
- Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
- Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > make sure Webscan is checked / enabled
- Click Apply to save any changes
Next
- Tab Scan > Webscan
- Set up Webscan the way you want it - for example, set the Source to ADF - Scan a test document using Webscan
EWS_9025_Webscan_Settings_Security_Administrator_2
EWS_9025_Webscan_1
Another caveat:
Maximum ADF one-sided scan size | 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 in) |
Maximum ADF two-sided (duplex) scan size | 210 x 297 mm (8.27 x 11.69 in) |

If not already done...
If the scan meets the requirements in the Specifications (paper not too large),
Adjust the Scan size setting for Original Size in Email Options
For example, set the Original Size to A4
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Scan > Topic Scan to Email >
Main Setup: Settings
Field, Body, Scan, File: Email Options

@Dragon-Fur
Many thanks for your help! Highly appreciate it. There is just one problem, for me there is no Scan to Email option:
How can I then find the option? I was browsing around, nowhere found anything related to that. Thanks for your help

You are welcome.
Yeah, but!
Sure - there is a way if your Linux print software provides it.
I have not investigated a purely Linux solution for you.
It is not the solution that is wanting in this case - it is partly the printer (lacking digital send) and partly that your software apparently does not support a scan-to-email methodology. Is there such a thing? Perhaps, but it is not in the HPLIP print software and it is not in Skanlite (general repository, in this case Open Suse).
Stay Safe.
