When I scan in documents using HPSmart app or on my iMac, the documents automatically get sent/saved to Acrobat. Can I change where the documents are automatic ally  stored once they are scanned?

@Phoenix511, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can change where your scanned documents are saved when using the HP Smart app or your iMac. It sounds like your system is currently set to open or save scanned documents directly in Adobe Acrobat by default. Here's how you can adjust that behavior:

For HP Smart App (macOS):

  1. Open HP Smart.
  2. Go to the Scan section.
  3. After scanning, look for the "Save" or "Save As" option.
  4. Choose a different destination folder and file format (e.g., PDF, JPEG).
  5. You can also uncheck any option that says "Open with Acrobat" or similar.

To Change Default App for PDFs on macOS:

If scanned files are opening in Acrobat because it's the default app for PDFs:

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) on any PDF file.
  2. Select "Get Info."
  3. In the "Open with" section, choose a different app (e.g., Preview).
  4. Click "Change All…" to apply this change to all PDFs.

To Change Save Location on iMac (Image Capture):

If you're using Image Capture:

  1. Open Image Capture (found in Applications).
  2. Select your HP printer/scanner from the list.
  3. At the bottom of the window, look for "Scan To" and choose your preferred folder.
  4. You can also set the format and name for the scanned files.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
