Scanned pages randomly flipped upside down

Scan of multiple pages to computer. Some pages rotated 180 degrees. These are random. Once changed in the feed other pages are rotated. What do I besides dumping the machine

Hi @David_H108,
I'd like to help!
To better assist you -
Does this happen even when you make a copy?
Are you using HP Smart to scan?
Have you tried to use the rotate feature?
Meanwhile, Let's try a power reset on the printer
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have an HP Laser Jet Color Pro M283fdw which suddenly just started randomly flipping pages when I scan. This happens when i scan a single OR multiple documents.
I bought this machine about 4-5 month ago and it was working perfectly. But about three weeks ago, it just started doing this random flipping . I have been using HP smart scan since I purchased the machine.

Have tried this without success. Scanned copies are now showing a line down the middle of the page but, again, it is randomly generated. i.e. not the same position and not the same page on each scan. This does not happen on the copy function when pages appear clean and are produced in the correct format.
Do have another suggestion other than to change the printer - which we are considering!!!

Am I the only one enjoying the irony of turning OFF an "auto-enhancement" that is supposed to ensure that the scanned pages appear right-side-up, actually solves the problem of random pages appearing upside-down?
