Scanner Issues

I am having problems with the scan functions on my HP Deskjet 2652. I scan by connecting the printer to the computer via USB. I go to the Scan option and I get the message shown in the attachment. I updated and ran the Print and Scan Doctor and it says that the printer is connected. I get the message "A later version is available" but when I run the update program, it says the program is up-to-date. I get the message "Everything checks out okay with your scanner" but when I run a test scan, I get the message "Unable to communicate with the scanner." I'm not sure what I could do at this point.

Try / Consider

Uninstall any printer software found in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Restart the computer and log in

Follow the steps in the video to install the software.

Reminder

Before you install the printer software:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer.

(Re)Connect the cable only when instructed to do so (near the end of the process).
