Just as the subject says, My scanner is one degree misaligned. This happens both on the glass surface, and from the automatic document feeder.

Hi @CC5K,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet Plus 4158 All-In-One Printer scanner is misaligned by one degree,

Here are some steps you can take to try to correct the issue:

Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor issues with the printer's alignment. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Reset the Printer: If restarting the printer doesn't work, you can try resetting it to its default settings. Look for the reset option in the printer's settings menu or consult the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.  User manual

Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet Plus 4158 All-in-One Printer

Calibrate the Scanner: Many printers have a calibration or alignment feature that can help correct misalignment issues. Look for the calibration option in the printer's settings menu or consult the printer's manual for instructions on how to calibrate the scanner.

Inspect the Scanner Area: Inspect the scanner area for any debris, dirt, or obstructions that may be causing the misalignment. Clean the scanner glass and the automatic document feeder (ADF) if necessary using a soft, lint-free cloth.

Check for Mechanical Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a mechanical problem with the scanner mechanism itself.

The scan and print doctor is unable to find any issues within the software, the issue still exits however. I've reset the scanner a few times, and I've fully reinstalled the drivers for it.

If a factory reset does not resolve the issue it is likely hardware, although one degree is likely considered in spec for this unit. Measurement for skew is based on millimeters over a set distance.

Honestly, I'm mostly surprised there's no standard setting somewhere to correct for expected misalignment.
