We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

The scan function is not working on the printer. When Scan To Computer is selected, the message No Computer Found shows up. I have un-installed and re-installed the software at least twice without any success. I have to scan to a USB drive and then move the USB drive to my computer. What can I do to fix this problem?

Welcome to the HP Community --

 

 

f you are running a supported version of Windows,

If you have not yet done so,

Install the full solution / full driver printer software.

 

If you are running a supported version of Windows,

If the full driver is installed (check in Programs and Features)

(then)

Make sure Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver is selected as the HP Driver as opposed to a Windows / IPP driver.

 

AND

 

Printer Assistant (shortcut on Desktop) > Scan > Manage Scan to Computer feature is enabled

The basics

  • Uninstall existing software from Programs and Features
  • Restart computer and log in.
  • Install full solution / full driver software

 

Details Page - Driver - For your Printer

HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 

 

If asked, opt for the Full Driver to be installed.

 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop.

 

 NotePrinter Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

For whatever reason, the un-install / re-install did not work when using a USB cord. I had to make the printer a network printer. So far, everything is working like it should.

There are reasons why that would make sense, at least in Windows.
