Hi @Work92,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP ENVY 6458e showing a scanner problem message. Let’s go through a few checks.

Restart the Printer

Turn the printer on.

Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.

Check Scanner Area

Lift the scanner lid.

Remove any paper, debris, or packing material from the glass and edges.

Close the lid completely.

Restart the printer and test scanning again.

Update Printer Firmware

Open the HP app on your computer or mobile device.

Select the printer.

Open Printer Settings.

Install any available firmware update.

Restart the printer after the update.

Restore Factory Defaults

Turn the printer on.

Press and hold the Cancel button for about 10 seconds until the lights change.

Allow the printer to restart.

Reconnect the printer using the HP app.

I hope this helps.
