HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer

When I want to scan a document the HP Smart application continues to spool for a long time prior to connecting to the printer/scanner. This is new and it shouldn't take this long. I've cleaned the ADF, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, restarted the printer and my pc. I'm at a loss. Ugh.

Hi @BJT65,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like you've already taken several effective steps to troubleshoot the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-In-One Printer, but the problem persists. Here are some additional steps you can take to resolve the issue with the HP Smart application taking a long time to connect to the scanner:

Step 1: Check Network Connection

  1. Ensure Stable Wi-Fi Connection:
    • Make sure your printer and PC are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Poor network connections can cause delays.
  2. Reconnect the Printer to the Network:
    • Disconnect and reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support page and enter your printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 9015).
    • Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer.

Step 3: Update HP Smart App

  1. Update the App:
    • Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. Check for updates in the Microsoft Store or the App Store, depending on your platform.

Step 4: Configure Firewall and Antivirus

  1. Allow HP Smart through Firewall:
    • Sometimes, firewall settings can interfere with the HP Smart app. Ensure that the app is allowed through your firewall.
  2. Temporarily Disable Antivirus:
    • Temporarily disable your antivirus software to check if it's causing the delay.

Step 5: Check Printer IP Address

  1. Assign a Static IP:
    • Sometimes, assigning a static IP address to the printer can help resolve connectivity issues. This can be done through your router's settings.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @BJT65,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Step 6: Use a Different Application

  1. Try Another Scanning Application:
    • If the issue persists, try using another scanning application such as Windows Fax and Scan or the HP Scan and Capture app to see if the problem is specific to the HP Smart app.

Step 7: Reset the Printer

  1. Factory Reset:
    • Perform a factory reset on the printer. This can help resolve any persistent issues. Note that this will reset all settings to their default values.
    • Instructions for factory reset:
      • Go to the printer's control panel.
      • Navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

Step 8: Check for Background Processes

  1. Close Unnecessary Applications:
    • Ensure there are no unnecessary applications running in the background that might be consuming network resources.

Step 9: Reinstall HP Smart App

  1. Complete Uninstall:
    • Completely uninstall the HP Smart app, ensuring all related files and settings are removed.
  2. Reinstall the App:
    • Download and reinstall the HP Smart app from the official source.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of the HP Smart application taking a long time to connect to the scanner. If the problem continues, consider reaching out to HP Support for further assistance, as there may be a deeper issue with the printer
