I understand you are facing an issue with the scanner and copier features of your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer stop working, it could be due to a variety of reasons, including software issues, driver problems, or hardware malfunctions. 

 

Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

 

Step 1: Restart Your Printer and Computer

  1. Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Shut down your computer.
  3. Wait for about 30 seconds.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  5. Turn on your computer and check if the scanner and copier functions work.

Step 2: Check Connections

  1. Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network.
  2. If using a USB connection, try using a different USB port or cable.
  3. If using a network connection, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

Step 3: Update or Reinstall Drivers

Update Drivers:  Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer series

  • Go to the HP support website: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your printer model (HP OfficeJet 4650) and select your operating system (Windows 11).
  • Download and install the latest drivers for your printer.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager").
  • Find your printer under "Printers" or "Imaging devices."
  • Right-click your printer and select "Uninstall device."
  • Restart your computer.
  • Reinstall the drivers from the HP support website as mentioned above.

Step 4: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click "Check for updates" and install any available updates.
  3. Restart your computer if updates were installed.

Step 5: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
  2. Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix issues with your printer.

Step 6: Verify Scanner and Copier Settings

  1. Open the HP printer software on your computer.
  2. Go to "Scan" or "Copy" settings.
  3. Make sure the correct settings are selected and that the scanner is recognized.

Step 7: Check for Hardware Issues

  1. Open the scanner lid and check for any obstructions or debris.
  2. Ensure the scanner glass is clean.
  3. Try performing a copy directly from the printer's control panel to see if it works without involving the computer.

Step 8: Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and check if the scanner and copier functions work.
