Scanner communication cannot be established. Ensure your product is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the product and try scanning again.
If you are installed using a cable connection (USB or Ethernet), ensure both ends of the cable are secure.
If you installed this printer by IP address, then you might need to update the IP address. Use the Update IP Address item in the Start menu entry for this printer.
If you are running firewall software, it may be blocking scan communication. Please visit www.hp.com/go/wirelessprinting for help configuring your firewall.

Hi @HUMZA1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering issues with your HP scanner, and the error message provides some troubleshooting steps. Let's break down the suggestions.

Ensure Product is Powered On:

  • Make sure your HP scanner is turned on.

Check Connection:

  • If you're using a cable connection (USB or Ethernet), verify that the cable is securely connected at both ends.
  • If you're connected wirelessly, ensure your network connection is stable.

Restart the Product:

  • Restart your HP scanner and try scanning again.

Update IP Address (if applicable):

  • If you installed the printer using an IP address, update the IP address. Use the "Update IP Address" option in the Start menu entry for the printer.

Firewall Issues:

  • If you have firewall software running, it might be blocking scan communication. Visit www.hp.com/go/wirelessprinting for assistance in configuring your firewall.

Follow these steps one by one, starting with the basic ones like checking the power and cable connections. If the issue persists, move on to the more advanced steps like updating the IP address and checking firewall settings.

Additionally, you may want to check if there are any updated drivers or software for your HP scanner on the official HP support website. Sometimes, updating drivers can resolve communication issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
