Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

After replacing my modem/router, I am unable to scan with my 8600 all-in-one printer/scanner. I can print with it, just not scan. It is connected to my home wireless network but the HP Smart app sometimes says it's online, other times it says it's offline.  When the app indicates the scanner is online and I try to scan something, it starts but then cancels the scan. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, uninstalling and reinstalling the printer. I've even reset the printer to factory settings and set it up as new. Nothing works. It worked fine before the modem/router switch. Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm about ready to scrap the printer and buy a new one. Please help!

@TimWS, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to scan using the HP Smart app.

To assist you better, are you using a Win PC or a Mac?

As you are able to print, the printer is fine, this is a software issue that can be resolved.

For more info on scanning, refer to - How to scan with an HP printer

Keep me posted for further assistance.

@TimWS

Download and install the HP Scan and Capture app from the Microsoft Store for scanning.

Alternatively, click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the HP Utility, and try scanning.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I am using an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer. I got the software you recommended downloaded and installed, but it never printed the  page w/a code to enter that it asks for to start using the eServices feature. I get a message saying "web services (eServices and apps) could not be enabled). There's an option to  enter "Proxy username and password", I tried that using my HP login, but it didn't work, i.e. I don't know what it means, like where to get the proxy information. I tried unplugging the printer and plugging it back in after 10 min., still none of the above works. The printer is being used wireless; I'm just trying to get the "scanner" feature to work w/my HP All-in-One Desktop.
