Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Hello,

 

I am suddenly no longer able to scan. When I go to Printers and Scanners - Scan - Open Scanner - new window pops up (HP ENVY 5530 series) but the scanner does not start scanning. The status of the scanner is ink low. The scanner itself makes noise when switched on and I am also able to print as usual.

 

I have downloaded the HP Firmware Updater to search for any updates and received the following message: Cannot update the device. This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device.

 

Can you please help me?

I understand you are not able to scan from your Mac. To assist you better, which app are you using to scan?

Kindly send a screenshot of the error in your next post.

How is the printer connected to the Mac?

 

Check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

You may use the HP Easy Scan or the HP Smart app from App Store to scan.
