@rold74, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your scanner being busy!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP printer is unable to scan and displays a "Scanner is busy" message, there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here are some troubleshooting methods:

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Connection:

  • Make sure that the printer is properly connected to your network or has a stable USB connection.
  • For Wi-Fi connections, try reconnecting the printer to your network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware updates.
  • Follow the instructions to install the updates on your printer.

Use HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart App installed on your iPhone and MacBook Air.
  • Check for updates in the Apple Store or on the HP website.

Check for Software Issues:

  • On your MacBook Air, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Remove your printer and add it again.
  • Ensure that you use the correct printer driver provided by HP.

Reset Printer:

  • Restore the printer settings to factory defaults if the issue persists.
  • Follow the instructions in your printer’s user manual to perform a factory reset.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
