@Lisa256, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Slow Scanning Issues with HP Smart App!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing slow scanning times with the HP Smart app, there can be several reasons for this issue. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Check Network Connection

  • Poor network connection: Move your printer and the computer or mobile device closer to the wireless router to see if the signal quality improves. Slow or intermittent Wi-Fi can cause delays.
  • Restart the router: Disconnect the power cord from the router, wait for 15 seconds, then reconnect the cord. This can help improve the signal strength and stability.

2. Check Printer Status

  • Wake Printer: Ensure that your printer is not in sleep mode. Touch the control panel or press the Power button to make the printer ready.
  • Check for Errors: Ensure there are no errors indicated on the printer screen such as low ink levels or paper jams. Resolve any errors if present.

3. Ensure Proper Printer Connection

  • Wireless Signal: Verify that the wireless signal is active and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. The wireless light should be on and steady, not off or blinking.
  • Reconnect Printer to Network: Place the printer within range of the Wi-Fi router signal. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's control panel to select the network name and enter the password.

4. Optimize Scan Settings

  • Scan Resolution: High resolution settings can increase scan time. Lowering the scan resolution can speed up the process.
  • File Type: Saving the scan in formats such as PDF rather than large image files can also reduce the scan duration.

5. Enable Bluetooth

  • Bluetooth Setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device. This can help the HP Smart app detect the printer more efficiently.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
