@Tank621, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Sorry to hear that your scanner isn’t working on the HP Smart Tank 6001. Let’s try to troubleshoot the issue. Here are a few things we can check:

Check Connections

Ensure the printer is correctly connected to your computer or network (Wi-Fi, USB, etc.).

If you’re using a USB connection, try using a different port or cable.

If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure both the printer and your computer are connected to the same network.

Restart the Printer

Sometimes a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. Turn the printer off, wait for about 10-15 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Scan from the Printer’s Control Panel

Try initiating the scan directly from the printer's control panel. This will rule out software or computer-related issues.

Go to the Home screen on the printer, select Scan, and see if it prompts you to scan a document.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
