I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 scanner has stopped working from the HP Smart app on Windows 10, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Restart your computer as well.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or through your local network (if it's a network printer).

Update HP Smart App:

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer. Go to the Microsoft Store and check for updates.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 10 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for printer and scanner issues.

Verify Scanner Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart app and check the scanner settings. Ensure that the correct printer is selected and that the scanner is enabled.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help identify and resolve printing and scanning problems. Download and run this tool from the HP website.

Check for Driver Issues:

  • If the scanner driver is corrupted or outdated, it could cause issues. Go to the Device Manager on your computer, find the printer/scanner device, right-click, and select "Update driver" or "Uninstall device" (then restart your computer to reinstall the driver).

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, security software can block communication between the printer and computer. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus and check if the scanner works.
