@MichaelDIC, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

Let's get your HP scanner working again. Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Physical Connections

  • Ensure the printer/scanner is powered on.
  • If it's a USB-connected device, try a different USB port or cable.
  • For wireless models, confirm it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

Restart Devices

  • Restart your printer/scanner and your computer.
  • This can often resolve temporary communication issues.

Reinstall the Printer Software

  • Uninstall the current HP software from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software from HP: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your printer model and follow the prompts.

Check Windows Scan App or HP Smart App/HP App

  • Try scanning using the built-in Windows Scan app or HP Smart app.
  • If scanning works here, the issue may be with third-party software.

Verify Scanner is Detected

  • On Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and check if your scanner is listed.
  • On macOS: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Make sure your system is up to date. Sometimes, missing updates can affect device functionality.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
