When scanning to Google Drive (using the Google Drive App on the printer control panel), will multiple pages (for example an insurance policy) scan as one attachment or as individual pages?  I can't imagine that this tool would be useful if you can't scan files with multiple pages as one document.  Second, are documents automatically scanned as PDF files?

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

MKazi is at your service.

I understand that you would like to know if you can scan multiple pages to one file using the Google Drive app on the printer. I'll be glad to check that.

Yes, the scans should happen on the PDF format (especially when scanning multiple pages to one file).

From the instructions mentioned in this HP document, It suggests scanning using the ADF (Automatic document feeder). This could mean we can scan multiple pages and then later save them to one PDF file:

Use the Google Drive app to scan documents or photos to your Google Drive account from your printer.

  1. On the printer control panel, find the Drive app .

  2. Select your email address, then touch Login.

  3. Enter your PIN, then touch Login again.

  4. To open your Google Drive account, touch Scan & Upload .

  5. Load the document or photo:

    • Scanner glass: Place the item with the print side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the engraved guides around the glass. Close the scanner lid.

    • Automatic document feeder (ADF): Place the item into the document feeder tray. The print side faces up and the top edge goes into the tray first. Adjust the width guides to fit the item.

CAUTION: Do not load photos in the ADF. Use the scanner glass instead to prevent damage to photos.

  6. Change the scan settings and look out for an option to save to one PDF file. Then touch Scan.

The printer scans the document or image and the item is saved in your Google Drive account.

I sincerely hope this information helps.

Feel free to let me know how it foes.

Cheers! 🙂

I've gone through the process to get the Google Drive app on my HP 477fdw. I do not have a Scan option, only a "View & Print" which has no option under it to scan. Is there something else I need to do to allow Scan, or is that not supported for some reason on the 477fdw?
