Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello - I am trying to scan a batch of documents. I am placing the paper in the top tray of the printer. When I click scan from my HP App, the scan begins from the middle of the printer, with the light. How do I change this so the scan is pulling from the top tray and I don't have to do one paper at a time from the middle? HP Printer 9010 Series.

Hi @Ctm6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Great question! Your HP OfficeJet 9010 Series has two scanning options:

  • Flatbed scanner (middle glass area) for single pages or books.
  • Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) (top tray) for multi-page scanning.

Right now, your HP app is defaulting to the flatbed. Here’s how to switch to the ADF:

Steps to Scan from the Top Tray (ADF) Using HP Smart

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your phone or PC.
  2. Tap Scan.
  3. In the scan settings, look for Source or Scan From.
  4. Change it from Scanner Glass to Document Feeder (ADF).
  5. Load your batch of documents in the top tray, face up.
  6. Tap Scan – it should now pull pages automatically.

If You Don’t See the Option

  • Make sure the printer firmware is up to date:
    • On the printer: Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Firmware.
  • Update the HP Smart app to the latest version.
  • Restart both the printer and the app.
