Scanning at 1200 dpi on 3301fdw

I just purchased a new color laser printer (3301fdw) and have a question about high resolution scanning.  The documentation says that the bed scanner supports 1200 dpi, but the controls on the printer and the web interface only go as high as 300 dpi.  How do I use 600 or 1200 dpi?  I'm on a Macintosh.  Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We need to distinguish between ADF and glass scanning:
ADF scanning = 300 dpi resolution is the maximum
Glass scanning = 600 dpi or 1200 dpi resolution can be used. In most cases, however, a resolution of 600 dpi is perfectly adequate.

So you have to switch the scanning software ( the Source) from ADF to glass beforehand.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm wondering what you mean by the "scanning software".  Is this something from HP, or in the Macintosh?  Do I need 3rd party software to scan from glass above 300 dpi?
