@JHE12, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding scanning in colour!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To ensure your scanner saves documents in color, you should verify a few settings and adjustments. Here are some steps you can follow:

Check Scan Settings: Make sure the scan settings are set to 'Color'. You can usually find this option in the scanner's software under scanning preferences or settings.

Use the Correct Profile: Some scanning software comes with preset profiles such as 'Document', 'Photo', 'Black & White', or 'Color'. Choose a 'Color' profile.

Update Software/Drivers: Ensure that your scanner drivers and software are updated to the latest version. Visit the manufacturer's website to download any new updates or patches.

Verify Output File Type: Some file types might default to black and white or grayscale. Ensure you are saving the scan as a color-compatible file type like JPEG or PNG.

Resolution Settings: Color scans often require a higher resolution. Make sure your DPI setting is at least 300 for color scans for clarity and color accuracy.

Review the User Manual: Double-check your scanner’s user manual for any specific instructions or settings related to color scanning.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
