Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. I am suddenly having problems scanning to emails on my computer.  Error message on printer/scanner says:

 

"The printer could not connect to Web Services.  The server might be busy or temporarily unavailable. Try again later"

 

I was able to scan to email for years without this problem....Suggestions??  What is Web Services ??

Read the Chapter on Using Web Services > Starting on Page 29

 

Web Services is the mechanism that connects your printer to the Internet.

This is different from your printer connecting to your local Network.

 

Sometimes the issue is merely a loss of connection that can be resolved on "your side".

 

Stop Web Services on the printer

Wait one or two minutes

Start Web Services on the printer

 

Open website:  HP Smart / HP Connected 

Open category How to > Turning On Web Services  (Includes “Turn off Web Services” help)

 

 

What if?

Sometimes the issue is outside of your control.

This means the service might be down in your region or perhaps the service is running but there are other external connection problems.

 

The only advice we can provide:  Wait, wait, wait - Try again later.

 

What?

We do not have any control / access / information on Web Services.

The entire process is outside the influence of the HP Community.

Waiting generally works - nothing else we can offer impacts the outcome.

 

For those reading:

If you have either an HP+ printer or an Instant Ink subscription, contact Support for that service.
