I know it is quite an old printer but I've been very happy with it.  Printing is fine but now it won't scan.  It fails to find connection using Hp Scan and also with Apple Image Scan.

 

I've down all the standard stuff restart, reinstall driver etc but no joy.

 

anyone out there with any other options.

Try these steps:

Check Scanner Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your network or directly to your computer via USB. If connected via Wi-Fi, make sure the Wi-Fi light on the printer is solid, indicating a strong connection.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both the printer and your computer. This often resolves temporary connectivity issues.

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Make sure you have the latest HP drivers and software installed. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool is designed to diagnose and resolve many scanning issues.

Firewall Settings:

  • Check your computer’s firewall settings to ensure they are not blocking the scanner. Temporarily disable the firewall to see if it resolves the issue.

Use HP Scan and Capture:

  • Download the HP Scan and Capture app from the Windows Store if you are using a Windows machine. This app can often bypass issues encountered in other scanning software.

Check Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service:

  • Ensure that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running. You can check this in the Services application on your computer.

Test with Different Applications:

  • Try scanning with different applications to isolate whether the issue is with the specific software or a more general scanning issue.

Update Operating System:

  • Ensure your computer's operating system is up-to-date, as updates often resolve compatibility and connectivity issues.

Correct Scanning Settings:

  • Double-check the scanning settings in your applications to make sure they are configured correctly for scanning.

Thanks Kuroi for the reply and the possible solutions.  I've tried everything but still not working.  It was working a couple of weeks ago but not now.  It prints very happily but just won't scan.  I'm on a Mac and Apple image scan doesn't recognise the scanner either.  I can get around it with my other printer.  I can't be bothered wasting anymore time on the issue.
