Scanning

I just set up my printer and tried my first scan. All I get as a image is no image only vertical lines on the page. this is a a brand new printer.

Does the printer get the same streaks when doing a Copy job?

If it's the same for both Copy and scan, the scanner might be defective.

Possible to return it to the shop for an exchange?

sir, would you be kind enough to help me since you seem very knowledgeable: I have used a HP6600 officejet printer/scanner connected via wifi to my computer for years here in Paris. worked always perfectly. but I disconnected it while on a trip and now back connected the printing function works fine but impossible to use the scanner: either it says that there is no scanner or there is a scanner in use depending on which  program I use (Hp smart or microsoft); I unistalled the printer and downloaded some driver but to no avail.

thank you for your ^rompt  reply, the copy function does not work either when I start it from the dashboard on the printer. So I guess the scanner is broken although I have not done anything to it and I need to buy a new printer?....
