I can't Scan.  I can print just fine but can't scan.  I have used the HP Printer and Scan Doctor.  That didn't work.  I restarted the computer.  That didn't work.  Help

May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Same problem. New computer. Was told old computer will not work w/usb so did everything wireless direct. Worked great (MAC). New windows OS 10 usually prints, sometimes I have to wake up the printer. Can not scan. Tried downloading HP smart, HP scan and capture, HP print and scan doctor. Tried using the windows scan app. THE ONLY WAY IT WILL SCAN IS IF IT HAS USB??????????!!!!! This is ridiculous!!!!!! Model HP Officejet pro 9015. Please HELP!!!!!

I understand you are unable to scan when connected wirelessly.

 

To assist better -

 

  1. I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
  2. What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
  3. Is the printer connected to a home or public network?
  4. Is there antivirus software installed on your Mac?

New computer is windows....Old computer mac. (It worked fine on the mac and I ran parrallels so on both mac and windows.)  It is not connected to any network there is no wifi network here. It is connected to wifi direct to new windows os and will only print not scan. Not using it as a network printer/scanner. Thanks for the reply

  1. Have you paralleled mac and windows OS on the same computer?
  2. Are you able to scan on the MAC OS?
  3. What application are you using to scan HP Scan, HP Smart, or windows fax and scan?

How does one connect printer to pc in order to scan?

Old mac OS crapped out can not use any more, new Lenovo windows is what I have .

Forget the mac it is dead.

I have tried all three of those options and none of them work unless a usb is connected. So how can I print wireless just fine but can not scan??????? New computers come with limited usb slots so prefer not to usb if possible I need it for ethernet.

Again I down loaded the Hp smart, the HP print and scan the windows scan app and the HP print and scan doctor. No help whatsoever............

Try the below suggestions-

 

1)Uninstall HP Smart 

 

2)Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

 

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

3) try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 

 

4)Reinstall HP Smart from windows store

 

If the error persists, install the HP Easy Start (under the Software and Utility tab )and use HP Scan to scan a document
