Scans and copies come out tinted heavily yellow.   This is NOT a printing problem, it's a scanner problem.    Any clues on what's causing this?    This issue has nothing to do with the operating system or the printer.   A simple copy using the buttons on the printer will come out tinted yellow.

I've attached a scanned Printer Test Page.   A test page prints correctly.   However any sort of scan or copy comes out yellow.

  • I've upgrade to the latest available firmware (2014-06-25) This problem existed on the previous firmware as well, so I believe this may be hardware related.
  • I've done a full factory reset on the printer.   After the reset the language was Chinese...fun figuring out how to get it back to English.  (Setup button, arrow down x 4 then OK, OK, (arrow down to English) OK.
  • I've done a cold reset (removed AC power) Printer is plugged directly into the wall.
  • I saw another post on the internet that says this may be caused by the ribbon cable.   I've inspected the long ribbon cable to the scanner, and it appears to be in decent shape.   I've reseated both ends of the cable.   I was going to buy a replacement and swap it out, but the part ( #RK2-1955-000CN) seems to be no longer available from HP.   I'd love to hear from someone who has fixed this issue in the past.
