My 4630 printer doesn't recognize my Mac for scanning.  It's been working fine until now. Same computer, same printer.

I understand your HP 4630 printer isn't recognizing your Mac for scanning. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and solve the issue:


Restart Devices: Turn off your Mac and the HP printer. Wait a few seconds, then turn them back on to see if the issue resolves.


Check Connections: Ensure the USB cable (if connected) is properly plugged in. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure both devices are connected to the same network.


Update or Reinstall Drivers: A software update or driver issue may be causing the problem. Visit https://support.hp.com/us-en to download and install the latest drivers for your HP 4630 and macOS.
 


Verify HP Utility: Ensure that HP Easy Scan or the HP app is installed on your Mac and that the program is properly set to recognize your printer.

Network and Security Settings:
 

  • Check your firewall settings on the Mac to ensure it isn’t blocking the printer communication.
  • Ensure your network settings allow printing and scanning functionalities over WiFi.

Reset Printing System:
 

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Control-click in the list of devices and select "Reset printing system...".
  • Add your HP 4630 printer again and check if the scanning feature works.
