Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HI - Just purchased a new Smart Tank 7605 all-in-one (to replace our 11 year old(!) Deskjet 8500, which finally broke). Networked to Windows 10 Pro desktop PC

I scan a lot of odd-sized docs to pdf using Adobe Acrobat X. With the Deskjet 8500, I used to be able to specify a page size to scan, it seems this was a "feature" of TWAIN interface option

Smart Tank 7605 is only offering me WIA interface in Acrobat X, with no TWAIN option. WIA interface gives automatic scan sizing - and gets it wrong, meaning I'd have to manually crop each page

How do I enable / access a TWAIN interface with Smart Tank 7605?  7605 specification lists TWAIN version 2.1, so I'm hoping it's possible...

TIA

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can try using the HP Universal Scan software. Download and install the software:

Hope that helps!

Hi Greenturtle, thanks for your advice

After some downloads from the page that you suggested, I ran either HP Scan Assistant or HP Scan-Scanner Tools Utility (sorry, can't recall which), and I could then discover "HP Smart Tank 7600 series TWAIN" as a scanner within Adobe Acrobat X.

This then opened a dialogue to specify the paper size to be scanned (as I could with my Deskjet 8500, and as I can with my Envy 4520 TWAIN device) - which was a good step forward - thanks again!

HOWEVER, I now have another problem, in using this 7600 series TWAIN device

No matter what paper size I specify (be it a custom size, or standard A4), every scanned page gets cropped to the outer edges of the image or text on the page. This was not the case with my Deskjet 8500 TWAIN, and is not the case with my current Envy 4520 TWAIN, they both scan to PDF with the specified size without cropping

When I scan using HP Scan utility on 7605 and specify a page size, the PDF takes the specified page size

So I'm starting to think that there's an issue with the Smart Tank 7605 TWAIN......

Any advice gratefully received

Hi @AlanN01

Glad to hear that Twain is working.

Regarding the cropped edges, let's try to set the paper size in the EWS.  An example on how to change the paper size is shown here:

Not sure if this will resolve the issue but worth a shot.

Hope that helps!
