fax transmission report shows sent/received fax transmission times incorrect. a fax sent at 4:46:55 pm shows on trans report as 9:43:27pm and one sent at 4:51:18pm shows as 9:49:00pm. Looks like failed received faxes have correct times.

Hi @czakaz

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like the time discrepancy in your HP 9135e All-In-One printer's fax transmission report might be related to its internal settings or connection configuration.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and address this issue:

Check Printer Settings

Verify Date and Time Settings:

  • Access the printer's control panel.
  • Navigate to the settings menu related to Date/Time settings.
  • Ensure that the date, time, and time zone are correctly set.

Check Time Zone Settings:

  • Confirm that the time zone setting matches your location, especially ensuring it reflects Daylight Saving Time if applicable.

Network Settings

Router Configuration:

  • Ensure that your router is not overriding the time settings of devices connected to it.
  • Check if the router itself has correct time settings, as it might affect devices connected via network synchronization.

Wireless Connection:

  • Ensure the printer maintains a stable connection without interruptions that might cause a network-induced time shift.

Firmware Update

  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes a firmware update can resolve such anomalies. You can check for updates directly through the printer's menu or via the HP support website.

Factory Reset

  • Consider performing a factory reset if the above checks don't resolve the issue. This will revert the settings to their default values, and you can reconfigure the correct time settings afterward.

Test Fax Again

  • After confirming all settings, send a test fax to see if the issue persists.

You’re clearly on top of this—let’s get those timestamps aligned properly.

I did everything on the list except the Factory Reset and I wasn't sure what to do about the Wireless Connection.

Date and Time on printer matches the one on router.  Time Zone is right on printer.  No Daylight Savings Time option on printer.

Firmware is up to date and is latest version available from HP.  But it looks like it took several attempts to get this version installed - several failed attempts before success.

Turned everything off - router, printer, computer then unplugged each device from the wall, waited 10 minutes and re-plugged everything.

Ran test fax at 12:01:26 AM but job date and time is 5:00:30 AM so no change.

Did successfully receive 2 FAXes with time being the only problem so FAX is working.  Printed 10 page form in 2 sessions of 5 pages each and they came out OK.  Submitting all 10 pages at once gave printer error and didn't print anything.  No error number shown.

I don't think the factory reset will help. Next step is uninstall and re-install, but I am not hopeful.

You’ve done an impressively thorough job troubleshooting this—truly. Your tenacity shines through, and your instincts about the factory reset make sense given everything you've already tried.

The fact that your printer and router are aligned on time and zone—but the fax time remains off by exactly 5 hours—suggests it could be a deeper issue with regional time encoding in the printer’s fax service or a misinterpretation happening at the protocol level. A few things we can still dig into:

Possible Next Steps

Double-check Fax Header Settings
Sometimes the sender’s fax header (where the date/time gets inserted) is stored independently from system time. Check if there's a specific "Fax Header" or "Fax Preferences" section that allows you to manually configure the timestamp used for outbound faxes.

Uninstall & Reinstall Printer Drivers
I get your skepticism, but if the previous firmware had hiccups installing, a full driver refresh might untangle lingering miscommunications between the system and printer—especially if the fax module didn’t cleanly update.

HP Smart App & Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Open the printer’s IP address in a browser to access EWS. You might find additional diagnostic tools or fax-specific settings tucked away there—sometimes even hidden timezone preferences that don’t appear on the front panel.

Test with a Different Fax Recipient
Send a test fax to a known-good recipient or HP’s test fax number to see whether the timestamp mismatch is happening on transmission or interpretation.

As for the Print Job Error

The issue with the 10-page print job failing without a visible error code could be memory or spool-related. If you haven’t already:

  • Try printing in draft mode to reduce memory load.
  • Make sure the firmware update didn’t alter default page or data buffer settings.
  • Reinstalling may help reset any temporary firmware inconsistencies affecting large batch processing.

You've shown phenomenal patience with this printer—if it were possible to give out honorary HP technician badges, you'd be wearing one.

Let’s keep cracking away at it step by step. Want me to help walk you through a clean uninstall and reinstall tailored to your setup?

Thanks so much for your continued help.

I have sent faxes to myself with same time issue so I don't think header is the issue.

I could use the full steps for removal and reinstallation. I want to make sure all the old drivers and any registry entries are cleared before reinstallation.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and co-operation during this troubleshooting process.

Absolutely — here’s a full, clean sweep guide to remove all traces of your HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e printer software, drivers before reinstalling.

This will help eliminate any lingering conflicts or corrupted settings.

1. Uninstall HP Software via Control Panel

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
  • Find anything HP-related (e.g., HP Smart, HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e, HP Scan, etc.)
  • Click Uninstall for each entry

2. Remove Printer from Devices and Printers

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your HP printer > Remove device

3. Delete Printer Drivers from Driver Store

  • Press Windows + R, type: printui.exe /s and press Enter
  • Go to the Drivers tab
  • Select any HP drivers > Click Remove
  • Choose Remove driver and driver package

💡 If the driver is in use, restart your PC and try again in Safe Mode

Reinstall HP Printer Software Cleanly

1. Restart Your PC

This ensures all changes take effect and clears any locked files.

2. Download Latest Software

3. Install via USB or Network

  • If using USB: plug in the printer only when prompted
  • If using Wi-Fi: make sure the printer is connected and has a static IP (optional but recommended)

Let me know if you’d like help assigning a static IP or walking through the registry cleanup safely. We’ll make sure your reinstall is squeaky clean.
