"Why?"

No idea.

The message does  not seem to be about Warranty -- the warranty on this printer expired in 2019.

 

In general, product support - other than the hardware warranty period - is about ten years for general documentation. 

Laser printers might go well beyond that period for documentation access.

Driver support will likely end before the how-to, manuals, and general documentation becomes unavailable.

 

If you have other services tied to the printer, contact the provider of the service.

For example, some printers are eligible for an HP Instant Ink Subscription.

"Unable to Scan"

Scanning issues are likely not related to Warranty or Support status.

 

Unable could mean a lot of things, including, network connection issues, actual trouble with the hardware (unusual), settings, tray setup (source / tray issues).

 

The caveat:  If you are using a scan software that is retiring, expired, requires a service connection, then "support ending in June 2023" might be significant.
