HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 15" Pavilion laptop and is connected (was) through a Wi-Fi connection to my HP Officejet Pro 8028e. My laptop has been having intermittent freezes on the internet and while researching how to resolve it, I cam upon an HP recommendation to reset the Network Adaptor cards. So I did a reset and now I lost my Wi-Fi connection; I cant even get the little Wi-Fi icon in the lower right had corner of the screen. So I lost my Wi-Fi and although I can see the Network Adaptor cards in the device manager, I can't access my network any longer. Nothing I try even shows my Wi-Fi network.  Now there is a point that shows my IPv4 and 6 are disconnected, but I can't even get reconnected. So I went to the next option which is to connect to the ethernet. This works well but not my first choice. So, now that I have the ethernet connected, I cannot connect to my Officejet; Wi-Fi or ethernet. I have reloaded the printer software and features, etc.. but cannot get anything to connect. Does anyone have any idea as to what I am missing and how to resolve this issue?

Thank you for any information you can provide. Sooooo frustrating!

Scott

I am not sure I understand the problem.

You say you are connected to the printer over WiFi.  Do you mean you  have been using WiFi direct to print?

Try to connect the printer to the WiFi modem.  I assume you do not have multiple WIFI repeaters or boosters A that is a different problem entirely

HARD reset of HP Office Jet Pro 8028. As the printer is booting up press the back arrow icon 4 times in a row until the support menu comes up. Choose FULL RESET if it is there. or watch 1:12 into this video

WiFi setup video 8028

To keep things simple, look in the control panel for Wifi and and if you see AUTO then set the band to be the 2.5ghz.  If this option does not exist then I really recommend you log into the modem and change the SSID (name) of one of the band so that you can make the printer always connect using the 2.4

I do not know why your laptop connect connect over wifi to the modem.  You may need to re-install the wifi driver.  If you are connect with hardwired ethernet, your laptop should be able to "find" the  printer using the add printer function

Use you product ID to find the wifi drivers or let me know it and I might be able to find it
