HP Recommended

Unable to scan black and white on HP Smart Tank 7605 All-in-One. The only option is greyscale or colour. The black and white documents are not coming out clear on greyscale and colour printer is putting different colours thorough the can. Its a brand new printer. Customer service not helpful at all. Keep cutting call everytime I call in.

@RuKau1234, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Scanning Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Open the scanning software you are using (HP Smart App or HP Scan).
  • Check the scanning settings to ensure it's set to scan in black and white and not greyscale.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart App.

Adjust Image Quality Settings:

  • In the scanning software, try adjusting the image quality settings (resolution and contrast) to improve the clarity of the scanned documents.

Clean the Scanner Glass:

  • Sometimes issues with scan quality can be due to dust or smudges on the scanner glass. Make sure to clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the printer software to ensure there are no software issues causing the problem.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
