Using ADF to scan on HP LaserJet M234sdw

How do I use the ADF on the HP LaserJet M234sdw to scan documents from the HP Smart app? The app no longer looks like it used to, so it must be a new version (as of 08.15.25). When I hit "source" on the app, my only printer option is the glass top where a single document is placed. I am also willing to scan using a computer or the very cryptic control panel on the printer. Can someone please help? Thank you.

If you are referring to the HP Smart app / HP App as would be used in Android or iOS, then yes -- a remake of the app has been in the works for a while.

The HP App - Mobile - application is being launched across the supported regions (locations on the planet where HP Smart / HP App are supported).  Reference:  HP printer setup (HP App) 

True - the "wrapper" used to open the HP App looks different from HP Smart.

The previous menu format might have been replaced with a list structure.

Lots of scrolling -- the print, scan, and copy elements should be recognizable.

Most of the "under parts" of the HP App are the same (or better) as its predecessor.

Ideally, if the paper is loaded into the ADF and the printer detects the paper stack, an application that can use the ADF will detect the stack of paper in the ADF.

Perhaps check - remove and reload the stack as instructed in the user manual.

"Does not work" -- What to do?

The Windows version of HP Smart is still available in its original format.

Too, should you be running a supported version of Windows on your computer, the full driver software is still available as is a very nice "Stand alone" version of the HP Universal Scan software.

NOTE:  If you install the full driver, you need not install the HP Universal Scan Software, though the system (computer) generally tolerates both of the programs to be installed together in a heap of enthusiasm.

If you wish to available yourself of the "Scan to Computer" feature, install the full driver software.

Next, Use the Printer Assistant or Scan Assistant to Manage Scan to Computer and Enable the feature.

An example is included later in this message.

HP Scan / HP Universal Scan Software includes a setting to use the ADF (Feeder) if detected.

HP Scan / HP Universal Scan / HP Smart (still) depend on the ADF having detected that paper is loaded in the Feeder.

HP Universal Scan Software installs a new, full featured, (and separate) HP Scan software shortcut to the Desktop. Note:

Where supported, HPUSS can be installed as standalone or installed after the full feature / full solution printer software.

HP Universal Scan Software might add OCR libraries to installed HP Scan software.

If needful, choose a different OS > Open all

Find / Download / Save / Install HP Universal Scan – Full Feature Software and Driver Webpack 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

• HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model

• HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
• When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut
