Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I have installed an Officejet Pro 8710.  Due to a number of issues I've moved it to a direct USB connection  and downloaded the full software set via hp.com/support.  I have an HP folder off the programs menu of W10 and included there are Scan and OCR.

I can scan an finally found my way to changing the destination folder and also the file name.  I have not, however, been able to get the base file name working.  The option is there but grayed out.  Once this works, I'd be able to provide a base file name of "X", and the scanning software would append a numeric sequence number to the file name as documents are scanned.  The first document would end up being named "X00001", and the next document scanned would be "X00002" and so on.

What must be done in order to be able to use the base file name option?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Could you help us with a picture of what you're referring to? Are you trying to change the file name of the scanned document?

Thanks!

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Let me know if this helps.
