The following was posted by a user in May 2025

"I am using the HP Smart Scan feature to scan in pages and save as a PDF. File size being large is true but not my main issue as that I can correct...the issue I'm having is that the actual page size of the paper that is being scanned is 8.5x11 but when you open the PDF on the computer it shows the actual size to be 26.5 x 33.8 inches."

I have the same issue, except the resulting paper size in my case is 35.4 x 45.8 inches. The resulting PDF can not be printed on  my printer. I constantly get a printer error that says the paper size does not match the paper in the tray.

One of the responses to the original post claimed that a fix was presented in June, 2025. It is now September and I am having the same issue.

I first though that maybe it was a driver issue so I tried to find an updated driver for my MacOS 15 Sequoia. A printer driver for that MacOS does not seem to exist on the HP download site. The latest drivers are for MacOS 14.

Any suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to get a hold for HP tech support seems like a fools errand.

@Zews2, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand that when scanning with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e on macOS 15 Sequoia, the resulting PDF shows an oversized paper dimension (for example, 35.4 x 45.8 in) instead of the correct Letter (8.5 x 11 in) size. This is why you are getting "paper size does not match" errors when trying to print.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer supports upto macOS 14. Please follow these steps,

1. Scan Using macOS Preview or Image Capture

  • Open Preview → File > Import from Scanner
  • Select your HP printer
  • Scan and save as PDF
  • This method preserves correct page dimensions

2. Use HP Smart App with Alternate Format

  • Try scanning as JPEG or PNG instead of PDF
  • Then convert to PDF using Preview or another app
  • This avoids the oversized page bug in HP Smart

3. Reset HP Smart App Preferences

  • Open HP Smart → Go to Settings or Preferences
  • Look for “Restore Defaults” or “Reset App”
  • Restart the app and try scanning again

4. Print to PDF Using “Fit to Page”

  • Open the oversized PDF
  • Choose File > Print > Save as PDF
  • Select “Fit to Page” under scaling options
  • This creates a new PDF with correct dimensions

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

This is not an acceptable response from HP support.

Mac OS Sequoia was released more than a year ago, and HP has still not provided working drivers for my printer HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.

This is not acceptable.
