When duplex scanning with the 8600, I get an error that only a single paper size is supported.

HP Recommended
Officejet Pro 8600 Premium
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The ADF is mistakenly identifying some of my paper as a size other than letter. The pages are all the same and it scans 7-8 of them before I get the error. Other times it will stop after 1 page with a paper jam error when there is no jam.

@AxisWest, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

Are you able to print fine from the computer?

What happens when you make photocopies?

 

Meanwhile, refer to the document The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Does Not Pick Paper to isolate and resolve the issue.

 

Also, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
