Great question! When you scan a document from an HP printer and send it directly to an email address, the printer itself usually does not store a copy of the scanned file or maintain a detailed “sent email” history like an email client would. However, there are a few ways you can confirm and keep a record:

1. Check the Printer’s Email Log (EWS)

Most HP printers with the Scan to Email feature keep a temporary log of recent email jobs in the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

  • Open a browser and enter your printer’s IP address (find it on the printer display or via HP Smart).
  • Go to Scan > Scan to Email or Job History.
  • Look for recent scan jobs and their status (Sent/Failed).

 

2. Use HP App

If you scanned using HP app:

  • Open HP app on your PC or mobile.
  • Go to History or Recent Activity.
  • You’ll see the scanned document and can download or resend it.

 

3. Check Your Email’s Sent Folder

If the printer uses your email credentials (SMTP setup), the sent document should appear in your email account’s Sent Items.

 

4. Enable Email Notifications

Some HP printers allow enabling confirmation emails or job notifications in the EWS settings under Scan to Email Setup.
