Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

While trying to use the HP printer management app, my HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M28-29 is repeated CANCELING my attempts to do a simple SCAN after selecting the SCAN button from the HP software.   Why is this happening?   Thank you.

Try these steps:

Check Connections

  • Verify that all cables are securely connected.
  • Ensure your printer is connected to the same wireless network as your computer.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Drivers and Software

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your printer model (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28-29).
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software updates.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve the scanning issue.

Check Software Settings

  • Open the HP management software (HP Smart or HP Scan).
  • Check the scan settings, such as resolution, paper size, and destination folder.
  • Ensure the settings are appropriate for the scan you are trying to perform.

Update Printer Firmware

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

 

Check for Software Conflicts

  • Close all unnecessary applications running on your computer.
  • Disable any antivirus or firewall temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

Reinstall HP Management Software

  • Uninstall the current HP management software from your computer.
  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Download and install the latest version of the software.
