Why cant I press scan on the Envy 7900e in the other room and have it scan to my PC... it tells me to 'set up at my PC'   can't find any menu options...

You need to install a full feature driver and software on your PC to be able to scan like that.

Sadly HP make the simplest tasks frustrating, annoying . time consuming and wasting, repetitive and all that 'control' just leads you to some sale of Ink or other peripherals.....  For what... my Brothers does everything faster, easier and just as good...

 No wonder the people at this successful business moth balled this Boat Anchor months after purchasing.... Enough

 As I said years ago when I got rid of my HP Laptop....NEVER AGAIN....
