Officejet Pro 8025e

I installed a new HP Officejet Pro 8025e a few days ago.  Every few hours it comes to life on its own, "Scanning" appears on the display, it goes through the motions of scanning something even though no document is present, and then goes back to sleep.  It briefly displays another message on the screen, but I can never get there fast enough to read it.

 

Does anybody know what is going on?  Does this have something to do with HP Smart "phoning home" to report what I'm up to?!

Unfortunately, HP Print and Scan Doctor is not available for the Mac.

 

I have an additional clue:   If my wireless network goes down for whatever reason, this spontaneous scan seems to occur when the wireless comes back up.

 

Is this expected behavior?

Hi @clivedaw 

 

Well, usually when the printer tries to warm up or when a wireless connection comes back, it is common for printers to behave like that. 

 

However, You can try using HP EASY SCAN and see if that helps.
